Remove Subtitles from Video
Hardcoded subtitles are burned into the frames, so no video editor can just 'delete' them. Markswipe detects subtitle text with AI and reconstructs the area beneath it while preserving the clip's audio and duration. Free for videos up to 60 seconds.

Results from automatic hardcoded subtitle removal
Markswipe sends a hardcoded-subtitle clip through automatic text-region detection, then reconstructs the pixels beneath the detected lines. In validation, three subtitle samples with different footage passed the quality check: the subtitles were removed, the audio remained present and the output duration matched the input.
The result is reconstructed, not recovered from a hidden clean copy. Subtitles over simple lower-frame backgrounds usually provide better context than large lettering over faces, hands or rapid motion. A complex scene may leave a light fill artifact. Review the complete free preview, especially around cuts, before unlocking the clean file.
A real before-and-after subtitle removal result
This representative frame comes from a controlled 40-second Chinese hardcoded-subtitle test, not a customer case study. The advanced text-removal path removed the visible line, preserved the audio track, and returned an output with the same duration as the input.
A single frame cannot prove how every moment behaves. The full validation also checked motion and timing, but your own complete free preview remains the best evidence for your footage. Faces, fine detail and rapid movement behind text can still leave a reconstructed patch.

Hardcoded subtitle removal questions
- Can hardcoded subtitles be removed?
- Yes. Hardcoded subtitles are part of the picture, so Markswipe detects the text region and reconstructs it from surrounding frames. Complex motion or detail can still leave a subtle fill artifact.
- How accurate is the subtitle detection?
- Automatic detection targets hardcoded subtitle text. Three different subtitle samples passed validation, but placement, motion and background complexity still affect the reconstruction, so check the free preview for your own clip.
- Is the audio track preserved?
- Yes. Validation confirmed that the audio remained present and output duration matched the input while the visual subtitle area was processed.
- Will removing subtitles leave a blur band?
- The advanced model reconstructs the subtitle area instead of placing a horizontal blur band over it. Difficult motion or detailed backgrounds may still leave a subtle fill artifact rather than a perfect restoration.
