Remove Text from Video

Timestamp overlays, burned-in captions and sponsor text are easy to add and painful to undo. Markswipe removes text from a video online with AI detection and precise box selection, restoring the background beneath while keeping the audio track intact. Free for videos up to 60 seconds.

Free for MP4 videos up to 60 seconds and 100 MB — no sign-up needed.

What happens when text is removed from a video

Burned-in text is part of every video frame, so removing it means reconstructing the pixels underneath. Markswipe uses automatic detection for subtitle-style text and fixed boxes for a timestamp, label or sponsor overlay. The advanced removal path was validated on three different hardcoded-subtitle samples; the text was removed while audio and clip duration were preserved.

No remover can reveal an exact hidden original when the text covered it. Markswipe infers a replacement from surrounding frames. Simple, consistent backgrounds tend to look most natural; detailed motion behind large letters can leave a light patch. The free preview is the practical way to check whether the result is clean enough for your footage.

A real before-and-after subtitle removal result

This representative frame comes from a controlled 40-second Chinese hardcoded-subtitle test, not a customer case study. The advanced text-removal path removed the visible line, preserved the audio track, and returned an output with the same duration as the input.

A single frame cannot prove how every moment behaves. The full validation also checked motion and timing, but your own complete free preview remains the best evidence for your footage. Faces, fine detail and rapid movement behind text can still leave a reconstructed patch.

Questions about removing text from video

What kinds of text can be removed from a video?
Hardcoded subtitles, timestamps, caption overlays, watermark text and any other text burned into the frames. Text stored in a separate subtitle file is not burned in, so there is nothing to erase.
Does removing text from video erase it cleanly?
The text area is rebuilt from surrounding frames rather than covered with a blur band. Simple backgrounds can blend naturally; complex motion or detail behind the text may leave a subtle reconstructed patch, so check the free preview.
Will the audio be affected?
No. Only the visual text area is processed; the audio track is passed through untouched.
Is it free to remove text from a video?
Videos up to 60 seconds are free with a watermarked preview. Unlocking the clean download at the processed source resolution requires a one-time credit purchase.
